Thank You West Spring Energy

It’s not every day that a machine this large is delivered in our territory so we thought we’d share the exciting news. We’ll also take this opportunity to thank West Spring Energy, a subsidiary of Reading Anthracite, of Pottsville, PA for their business and for placing their trust in us with such a substantial investment.

In December 2011, we delivered the first of two PC4000-6 Super Shovels to see action stripping overburden at Reading Anthracite’s operation outside Pottsville.

The PC4000-6 is a premier example of Komatsu’s technological expertise. It boasts advanced hydraulics offering extended reliability and control and is designed for lower operating costs and producing more tons per hour.

It’s matched to load 150 to 240 ton trucks with a 29 cubic yard bucket. It weighs 875,000 lbs, has 1,875 HP and a 1,691 gallon fuel tank! It ships on 8 tractor trailers and takes six weeks to assemble. The operators’ cab is complete with a wash basin with running water and a refrigerator. Check out these pictures of the machine being assembled. Amazing.
